1. Who we are

TasteBud is operated by Maplewood Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”). If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, contact us.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use TasteBud, we may collect the categories of information below. We only collect what we need to provide and improve the service.

Account information

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive identifiers and profile details those providers share with us (such as a name or email, when available). You can also use TasteBud as a guest until you create or link an account. You may add a username, display name, bio, avatar photo, and taste preferences (for example cuisines you love or foods you dislike).

Content you create

This includes dish names, ratings, notes, restaurant details, photos and notes you add about dishes, collections, likes, comments, and share links you create. Some dish pages may be viewable on the web when you share them. Content you make public or share with others may be visible to other TasteBud users or anyone with the link.

Location

Only if you allow it. We use location when you enable it to suggest nearby places and, if you turn on visit reminders, to notify you when you arrive at a restaurant so you can log a meal. You can turn location off anytime in your device Settings.

Contacts and friends

Only if you allow contacts access. TasteBud can use contact information you choose to share for finding friends who already use the app. Your address book stays on your device — we do not upload your address book as a list of names and numbers. Friend connections and activity you choose to share may be visible to people you follow or who follow you.

Photos and camera

If you grant access, you can take or choose photos of dishes and optionally save share cards to your photo library. Photos you attach to dishes may be stored with your account so they appear across your devices and when you share.

Purchases and subscriptions

If you subscribe, payment is handled by the App Store (or Google Play on Android) and related payment processors. We receive information needed to confirm your subscription status. We do not receive your full payment card number.

Device and usage information

We may collect basic technical information needed to run the app reliably — for example device type, app version, and crash or performance signals. The app may keep some of your content on your device so TasteBud works quickly and offline; when you have an account, that content is also stored with the secure cloud services we use to run the app.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we may send reminders (such as restaurant visit prompts), suggestions, and in-app social updates.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or marketing analytics SDKs in the app. If that changes, we will update this policy.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• Provide, operate, and improve TasteBud (including dishes, meals, profile, social features, and collections).
• Suggest nearby places and send visit reminders when you enable location.
• Help you find friends when you choose to share contact information for that purpose.
• Show community and friend activity you choose to participate in.
• Process subscriptions and restore purchases.
• Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
• Respond to support requests you send us.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run TasteBud:

• Service providers. Secure cloud services and other vendors that help us host the app, store content, authenticate accounts, and manage subscriptions — under contracts that limit how they use your data.
• Apple and Google. Sign-in, and App Store / Play billing when you purchase a subscription.
• Other users. Content you make public or share (for example a dish link, profile details you set, or activity visible to people you follow or who follow you).
• Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people from serious harm.

5. Retention

We keep account information and content associated with your account while your account is active. Content stored only on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the app. After you delete content or request account deletion, we remove or de-identify personal data within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep limited records for legal, security, or billing obligations.

6. Your choices and rights

• You can turn off location, contacts, photos, camera, and notifications in your device Settings.
• You can edit or delete dishes, profile details, and related content in the app.
• To request access to or deletion of personal data we hold about you, contact us. We will respond within a reasonable time.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (including access, correction, deletion, and portability). Contact us to exercise them.

7. Children's privacy

TasteBud is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

8. International processing

We use secure cloud services that may process data in the United States or other countries. By using TasteBud, you understand your information may be transferred to where those services operate.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as TasteBud evolves. We will post the revised version at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
